La Locanda delle Donne Monache, MARATEA Located in an 18th century monastery that was once habited by Visitandine nuns, La Locanda Delle Donne Monache is a luxurious rural village getaway that has been renovated to today’s high standards in impeccable Italian taste. The original features of the monastery have been conserved; outside, raw rock and stone walls are exposed, vines and climbing plants abound, the garden is a riot of colourful flowers. Inside the décor is avant garde, alive with examples of Murano artwork; the reception desk has an extravagant backdrop of a 3D clockwork colláge and the lobby and resting areas are dotted with brightly coloured figurines. Throughout the interior the original rock walls and stone flooring has been incorporated where possible, creating a post-modern, designer ambiance, all with the advantage of plenty of natural light, and breathtaking views of the area from every available window.
